About Our Company
In 1957 Miles Annas and Herb Hunter formed Southern Comfort HVAC Company of Charlotte in a rented warehouse section of a roofing company. That same year the new company outgrew its space and moved to a larger building of its own located on Dunvant Street.
In 1971 after leaving the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge, Steve Annas joined his father Miles in the family business. Together along with a talented team of employees, Southern Comfort expanded to become one of the largest commercial mechanical contractors in the city. Architects, engineers, general contractors and business owners alike learned that they could depend on Southern Comfort of Charlotte to meet their air conditioning needs.
Because of the recent growth in the Charlotte South End area, Southern Comfort moved again in 2007 to its current location on Cross Beam Drive.
After making a lifelong investment to his father’s company, Steve Annas decided to pass the future of the company on to the next generation. In October of 2016, a new phase of Southern Comfort began with the transfer of ownership to Phillip Bryson and Rob Hargett. Together the new owners bring over 30 years experience in the HVAC industry. Just like Steve Annas, Rob Hargett grew up in the HVAC business being the third generation to work in the industry. The new ownership will follow in the legacy left by the Annas Family.
With a strong foundation, Southern Comfort of Charlotte’s goal is to grow the company to meet the needs of our expanding city and continue our commitment to providing high quality services to Charlotte and the surrounding communities.
